The success of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine in Milan

The Abruzzo Region and its Montepulciano wine dominated in Milan during the presentation of the international journalistic award where wine and culture met. The well-known gourmets and experts considered Montepulciano d'Abruzzo one of the top Italian red wines and the Mannheimer's research reveals the increasing appreciation of this wine

Italian food&wine gurus, important wine journalists, famous and appreciated chefs and sommeliers: many people – including Tonino Verna, the president of the Consorzio Tutela Vini d'Abruzzo, Alessandro Nicodemi, the President of Consorzio Colline Teramane and Mauro Febbo, the Regional Council of Agriculture – took part at the presentation of “Words of Wine” on February 12th 2013. However, the real star of the event was the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine, praised by many guests in a picturesque setting in Milan, that is a city with a strong European vocation.

At the presentation of “Words of Wine”, the words of food&wine opinon leaders were very significant: words of authentic appreciation for the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine.

“More and more known and loved by Italian people”: with these words Professor Renato Mannheimer (the famous Italian sociologist) described the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine during the event. He presented the results of his research “Quality wines: perceptions and markets”, that analysed also the popularity of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine and the appreciation of the advertising campaign “A Montepulciano d'Abruzzo pleasure".

Also the well-known chefs Carlo Cracco and Gianfranco Vissani, speakers of the event, showed their appreciation on wine also in several interviews.

Also the moderator Davide Paolini, journalist for Il Sole 24 Ore newspaper and creator of the Italian neologism “gastronauta”, has been interviewed. He coordinated the speakers on the stage of Palazzo Clerici which were some of his important colleagues, such as Marco Sabellico, journalist for Gambero Rosso magazine, Giampaolo Gravina, curator of the “Guide to Italian Wines” for L'Espresso magazine, Antonello Maietta, president of the Italian Association of Sommeliers, Christian Eder journalist for the European wine magazine “Vinum” and Marco Bolasco, director of Slow Food magazine, who presented the upcoming book about the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine, that will be published by “Slow Food”.

It was also presented the artistic work realized by the artist Ettore Spalletti that will be delivered to the winner of “Words of Wine”, selected among the journalistic works that will better express the wines of the Abruzzo Region, in the background of the art and nature of this territory.
